Description / Expertise

D240. Drocourt No 14391. A particularly fine quality gong striking and repeating gilded carriage clock by this eminent maker, smothered in superbly executed floral engraving. The background to the floral designs has been taken back and matted to accentuate the flowers, a highly skilled and time consuming process.

The gorge case has a lightly decorated lobed handle with a recessed engraved panel beneath with bevelled oval glass revealing the well executed silvered platform with lever escapement. The circular white enamelled dial with delicate roman hour and small arabic minute numerals is surrounded by an engraved and gilded mask of the very finest quality. The sides, base and back are similarly decorated. The clock bears Drocourt’s insignia, a tiny carriage clock flanked by his initials, contained within an oval, to the left of the backplate. The clock is complete with velvet lined deep red carrying case. Circa 1870.

Height with/without handle 6"/4.75" (15.2/ 12.2cms) £4,950
