D139. A late 19th century miniature French carriage timepiece with exquisitely executed deep blue Limoges enamel panels to either side. An elegantly dressed lady in 18th century style is depicted on one side standing between flowers and holding one in her hand with another in her hair. In the background are butterflies. She is attired in a pale pink and white dress enhanced by black stripes. The gentleman, also amidst flowers, is wearing a blue frock-coat, jacket and breeches.
The movement with a good quality lever escapement, is signed L.F,. the mark of Louis Fernier who was working in Paris and Besançon, is numbered 2293.
