The whole design of the gilded case, including the handle, resembles a series of blocks or bricks. The porcelain panel to the front of the case depicts an impressive chateau standing beside a river or moat on which a small boat is moored in the foreground. The panel also incorporates a white chapter ring above this view with black Roman numerals through which branches and leaves of a tree are entwined.
